The new Schoolboy Q album, Blank Face, drops next Friday.
Last week he released "By Any Means (Part 1)" as a short movie/extended video. Blank Face is my most anticipated album of 2016, so I'm a sucker for any album promo, especially the false crying MJ cover that was released. But this video is great, and the song is laid back but rolls nicely.
The standout here is the footage of Groovy Tony with his boys from way back. If you watched "hoovaq" on SnapChat you'd know that these are the people he really spends time with, and he really ruthlessly talks shit to and about them. Basically whenever he isn't taking his daughter to soccer games he's hanging with these guys, or flying them to Hawaii to celebrate finishing the album. It's an obvious source of humility and humor for him. Something that comes across in his rap. He's the only rapper I know who's posting pictures of his departing hairline and joking about paying to fix it like Lebron.
Stand by for me screaming about Q next week.
