Don't call it a death metal comeback.
It's been nearly five full years since Dying Fetus put out a new album and the wait is almost over.
2004 was the last (only) time I saw Dying Fetus play a live show. It was awesome and I can still remember it well. Very intense, brutal, pummeling, and awesome. I cashed out many longhairs on that night. And the little pig-shaped "bouncer" with dreadlocks didn't like me. I ran into him again nearly eight years later - he's still a total dickhead.
But even that moron cannot dampen my memory of one of the very best death metal shows I've ever seen.
Dying Fetus is one of the few bands that doesn't get stale, doesn't mellow out, doesn't tarnish their legacy. And part of that probably can be linked back to their sparse catalog. Quality over quantity.
The new song does not disappoint. I've been wondering about new music from the likes of Portal and Dead Congregation, finding a complete lack of death metal that I find both brutal and immersive.
Dying Fetus has a new song, a new video, and I can't stop listening to it. Soon, they'll have an entirely new album, titled Wrong One To Fuck With, and I can't wait.
