I was scrolling through the new releases in Google Play Music about two weeks ago and I found this crazy funky electronic music EP from a dude named Goldwash. When the first song, “Honest,” started, I knew it was exactly what I wanted. It is refreshing and beyond enjoyable.
It starts with this awesome piano, that plays from about five different places in sequence. Then it fades away to the main synth line with these booming drums. The piano does come back with the breakdown. The refrain is catchy too. The end is interesting because the beat begins to break apart and slowly disintegrate and then fade away. “Separate” fades up with this filter promising something even sunnier. The guitar licks throughout are perfect. Check for the chords made with vocal samples, because they are gorgeous.
“OK I Lied” is my favorite song. The beat is infectious. The tom riffs is perhaps the best thing I have ever heard done with tom drums. The percussion is on point. Actually, all of the rhythm sections on this whole EP are touched by some higher power. I was in the shower when the final song, “LDR,” played and I swear when the chorus came on I yelled out “aaaaayyyyyy.” The chorus is so smooth, upsettingly smooth. The instrumental is great, the clap patterns are fantastic.
If you want a refreshing funk infused electronic project to listen to, this is it. The production is amazing, Goldwash delivers some memorable choruses, and everything comes together in the best way possible. Please give this a listen.
